About us
Sentierra Pony School
At the Sentierra Pony School, your child will learn the basics of riding that will allow them to ride horses safely... but that's a side issue for us, so to speak. Our main concern is that the children have fun interacting with the animals and being in nature. They get some exercise in the fresh air, learn how to handle ponies fairly and safely, and learn how to care for and guide these large and fascinating animals themselves - an experience that builds self-confidence and thus contributes to your child's positive development. But physical skills are also promoted, especially the sense of balance, a healthy posture and many muscles that are developed very specifically through riding.
"Sentierra" is made up of the Spanish "sentido" - in English "sense/feeling" - and "tierra" - earth. With us, your child should explore his environment with all of his senses and our goal is to give your child a "grounding" imprint that will also help him through stressful or difficult times in adult life.
The Team Pony Concept , which I work with, fits these goals. Each lesson is clearly structured and follows a pedagogical focus in a playful way. The preferred group size for a pony and a riding instructor is four children, who "work" together best over a longer period of time. However, individual and double lessons with a stronger focus on riding training are also offered.
Sandra
Born in Innsbruck, I came to Switzerland in 2009 to join the Swiss banking world (which I am still part of - but now in balance with this wonderful side job). I started riding at the age of 9 and horses have accompanied me through many ups and downs. I know from my own experience what power interacting with animals can have for children - for example, to strengthen their self-confidence or to find themselves in difficult times.
Over the course of my life, I have continued learning how to deal with horses and have trained myself to be a versatile rider and horse owner - from dressage to show jumping, horsemanship, trail riding, extreme trail riding and horse agility. I wrote my thesis on horse-assisted management seminars and dealt intensely with the psychology of horses and their interaction with people.
At the Sentierra Pony School, I would like to use this knowledge to teach children how to treat animals and nature fair and safely, which benefits both sides. I am a certified Team Pony Concept instructor and follow these social-educational approaches in my lessons.
Rocky
Rocky is an American Shetland pony gelding, born in Germany in 2013. His breeding name, which reveals his noble lineage, is "Purple Rain of Golden Touch".
Rocky has been with us since August 2024, after his previous owner trained him with a lot of feeling and expertise to be a children's riding pony.
He can be a bit moody in bad weather, but when the sun shines, the sun shines on Rocky too. He is a real show jumper and carries his riders safely on his back - both in the riding arena and in the countryside.
